Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and apply for one specific job. Complete employment application form at home or in the Human Resources office. Return completed application to the Human Resources office in Kahului in person or by email or fax at (808) 871-9267. We are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Required Applicant Information:
Detailed information of 10 years of work history including company name, mailing address, phone number, dates employed (months & years), job title, list of duties, supervisor, final wages, hours worked per week, and reason for leaving.
Three (3) personal references (not a relative or previous employer).
If applicable: required license, certificate, degree, transcripts, past performance evaluations or samples of work.
When reviewing job applicants, Hale Makua Health Services considers the following factors:
Employment Application
Has it been completed according to the instructions? Is it accurate?
Are gaps in employment satisfactorily explained?
Education or Credentials
Does the applicant have required education, certification or license?
Work Experience
Is there any related experience? How recent and relevant is it?
Job Stability
How long did the applicant work at other jobs?
Is there a steady work history or gaps in employment?
Is there a history of many short-term jobs or fewer long-term jobs?
What are the reasons for leaving previous jobs?
Is there good job progression (increase in responsibility, job status, or wages)?
Residence Stability
Length of current and past residences?
Future plans?
Interview
Is the applicant sincerely interested in the position at Hale Makua or just looking for a job or benefits?
What are the applicant's career goals?
How well does the applicant respond to interview questions?
Does the applicant seem well suited for the position?
Is personal appearance and conduct appropriate?
Can the applicant work shifts or variable schedule if applicable?
References
Does the work history check out?
If available, what was the applicant's performance and attendance like in prior jobs?
Other
How did the applicant conduct themselves during the application process?
Are there other applicants whose qualifications are more suitable for our requirements?
Drug Test
Did the applicant complete and pass the post-offer drug screening test?
Background Checks
Did the applicant pass the state & federal criminal background checks and, if applicable, state nursing registry or licensing agency check?
Normally applicants who are not selected are not given details on why they were not selected. Current employees who are suggesting a friend or relative for hire will not be given the details on a selection decision.
Unlike some companies, Hale Makua may consider former employees for rehire. To be considered for rehire, the former employee should have resigned with notice and have had a satisfactory attendance and performance record. Previous employment at Hale Makua does not guarantee re-employment.
