VOLUNTEER

We love our volunteers! Through their enthusiasm, vitality, and the multitude of tasks they complete, they help to extend the scope of Hale Makua Health Services' programs and services. The philosophy of our volunteers is based on the sharing of oneself through interaction with residents, families, and our professional staff.

Volunteers can choose from a variety of things to do such as:

• Being a friend to or visiting with a resident
• Helping or leading with arts and crafts
• Leading discussion groups
• Writing letters
• Reading aloud to residents
• Playing table games
• Assisting with gift making
• Assisting with holiday decorations
• Showing movies/slides
• Crocheting or sewing for residents
• Flower arranging
• Helping serve meals in the dining room
• Transporting residents to activities and therapy
• Light computer input
• Office filing/typing
