Residents Help with Fundraiser

Preparations for our signature fundraising event, Kokua for Kupuna, are well-underway. Staff, volunteers, and even residents are helping out to make this year’s event featuring performances by Kapena on Saturday, September 27th at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa a huge success. Residents like Nancy Kawamura and Yoshiko Higa, pictured above, have been busy making beautiful eyelash yarn lei.

This illustrates Eden Alternative Principle 4: An Elder-centered community creates opportunity to give as well as receive care. This is the antidote to helplessness.” and Principle 6: “Meaningless activity corrodes the human spirit. The opportunity to do things that we find meaningful is essential to human health.”

If you’re interested in helping us as a volunteer at the event, please call Volunteer Coordinator, Karen Frangipane, at 873-9283, of if you’d like to purchase tickets to the event or make a donation, click here.
