Adult Day Health and Rehab Clerk

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible to the Adult Day Health Program Manager.  Must work closely with Adult Day Health, Rehab, and other Hale Makua Health Services staff.  Communicates with community agencies, physicians, clients and clients’ families and caregivers.

ADULT DAY HEALTH

  • Greets and directs ADH clients and visitors as necessary.
  • Answers phone lines for Adult Day Health.
  • Arranges transportation for ADH clients.
  • Completes, in an accurate and timely manner, required records and reports upon client admission and discharge. Completes, revises, copies and/or distributes various documents.
  • Responsible for tracking ADH participant attendance and meals.
  • Maintains and monitors client medical records for completeness of information. Ensures, through concurrent review, that medical records contain documentation in accordance with established policy and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client information.

REHABILITAITON SERVICES

  • Greets and directs Rehab clients and visitors as necessary.
  • Answers phone lines for the Rehabilitation Services Department.
  • Schedules appointments for outpatient Rehab clients and leaves reminder messages the day before appointments.
  • Assists with new client intake and necessary paperwork.
  • Maintains and monitors client medical records for completeness of information.  Ensures, through concurrent review, that medical records contain documentation in accordance with established policy and procedures.  Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client information.

OTHER

  • Composes and responds to email. Sorts incoming and outgoing mail and distributes accordingly. Receives and sends faxes.
  • Orders, receives and stores medical and office supplies. Arranges for disposal of supplies or equipment according to established procedures as directed.
  • Maintains reception area in a clean and orderly fashion. Posts memos and announcements on timely basis. Updates bulletin boards.

Full-time.  Work schedule is Monday to Friday, Day Shift.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in related health care field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of general office experience preferred. Previous experience in health care preferred.
  • Knowledge of Business English; spelling, filing, arithmetic, office practices and procedures, and business etiquette.  Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems as well as Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.  Must have completed Medical Terminology at the community college level or work-based program with certificate of completion.  Knowledge of medical and nursing practices helpful.
  • Ability to write legibly.  Demonstrate ability to apply medical terminology to work tasks.  Ability to concentrate where interruptions are frequent.  Skilled in interpersonal communications, both in person and in writing.  Demonstrated ability to develop quality interpersonal relationships; works well and cooperatively with all supervisors, peers, and customers with diverse backgrounds.  Good organizational skills; demonstrated ability to self-direct and prioritize time and workload.

 

COMPENSATION

Union Wages:  Start $15.63/hr. then $16.45/hr after 3 months of continuous service.
