Laundry Helper

Job Description


The Laundry Helper sorts soiled laundry into appropriate categories; folds, stacks, and hangs clean laundry, linen and garments; and counts items and makes up linen carts for the nursing units.  Assists the Laundry Worker in operation of laundry equipment.  Drives laundry truck to appropriate location for pick up and delivery of laundry.   Delivers clean linen and clothing to appropriate locations in the facilities.  Maintains daily logs related to linen and other supply usage and keeps the laundry area clean.  The Laundry Helper is responsible to the Director or Supervisor of Environmental Services and must work closely with the staff members of the Laundry Department and interact with other staff members of other departments.



Job Requirements

Prior experience in institutional laundry preferred.  Knowledge of the operation of laundry equipment desired.  Knowledge of sanitary and safety regulations.  Ability to learn to operate laundry equipment.  Valid driver’s license required to drive Hale Makua Health Services truck between campuses to pick up and deliver laundry and good driving record.  Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs and to work weekends, holidays and variable shifts.




Union Start Wages: $13.08/hr. to start then $13.37/hr. after three months of continuous service.
