Gift Helps Improve Our Kitchen

Thank you to the Roy H. & Lorraine M. Okumura Foundation for a donation of $15,000 to support the organization’s foodservice operations. This gift has made possible the purchase of a much needed new dishwasher, which is critical for cleaning thousands of dishes daily.
Our Nutrition Services team has been thrilled with the new dishwasher, saying that it is much easier to use and clean, and staff and residents have noticed that the dishes are spotless. The new dishwasher is easier to repair when needed, and much more efficient; saving staff time, using less water, and taking up less space. Plus it retains the steam and heat better, so in hotter months, the dish room won’t be as warm a working environment for staff.
We are very grateful for the continued generosity and support of the Roy H. & Lorraine M. Okumura Foundation, VIP Foodservice and Island Grocery Depot, who have been generously helping Hale Makua and Maui’s kupuna since 1994. In addition to this gift, VIP Foodservice also supports our annual fundraiser, Kokua for Kupuna, and our participation in the Tournament of Champions.
