Rotarians Donate New Dining Room Chairs

On November 14, 2019, the Rotary Club of Maui presented 10 chairs to Hale Makua Kahului for use in the Aloha Café dining room. The presentation culminated a two-year beautification project, which consisted of repainting the dining and activities rooms and fundraising for the procurement of new dining room chairs.
Hale Makua was selected by Rotary Club of Maui as their 2017 service project, and with the help of Rotary Clubs of Wailuku, Kahului, and Upcountry Maui, the Aloha Café was painted in uplifting colors selected specifically for the space by Rotarian Valorie Spence, president of Interior Design Solutions. “Today we proudly presented them to the staff and residents, and it was heart warming to know that the project made such a positive difference for Hale Makua”, said Rotary Club of Maui President Bridget Bongaard, MD.
In attendance at the presentation of the chairs, Hale Makua Health Services CEO, Wesley Lo, shared how much the beautified space means to Hale Makua residents and staff, “The Aloha Café is the hub of socialization and activities at Hale Makua Kahului. From coffee and meals, to manicures and religious services, this multi-purpose space is widely used by residents and families. The new paint colors and chairs make the space even more vibrant, and have brought joy to residents, visitors and employees. We are so grateful for the generosity and support of Maui’s Rotary Clubs for making this possible.”
