Caring for the Future of Our Kūpuna

Gma

PURPOSE:

Hale Makua cares for Maui's elderly population by providing skilled
nursing, rehab, home health and adult day health care. Today, the
aging population is growing in numbers never before seen. Our goal
is to expand our footprint in Kahului to adequately address this
growing kūpuna population by providing a basic foundation for
health, social services and healthcare workforce resources. Taking
adequate care of kūpuna requires the attention of our entire
community in order to be successful. If done right, keeping kūpuna
cared for and healthy reaps benefits for future generations.

PLAN:

In partnership with the County of Maui and the community, Hale
Makua has plans to expand services using the 2.8 acres directly adjacent to
the current Kahului facility (formerly the Gateball Field). This plan
offers an opportunity to efficiently centralize operations while
improving care. Along with Hale Makua's existing Wailuku facility, this
project will provide the necessary care infrastructure for the future.

THE DETAILS:

  • 72 Additional Beds
  • Expansion of Rehab Offerings
  • Space for Workforce Programs
  • Ample Parking
  • Centralized Kitchen
