Residents Create Centerpieces for Annual Fundraiser
Residents made a huge contribution to Kokua for Kupuna by creating centerpieces for the tables. They painted terra cotta pots in bright colors and then just before the event, they planted succulents in the pots. Two Master Gardeners from the UH Maui Extension joined the elders to provide advice on planting and caring for succulents.
The plants looked beautiful on the tables at the event and attendees were delighted to have such a thoughtful gift to take home. Mahalo to all the residents, clients and staff who helped with the centerpieces. By making centerpieces, elders illustrated Eden Alternative Principle #4 “An Elder-centered community creates opportunity to give as well as receive care. This is the antidote to helplessness.”
