Residents Go Holo Holo in a New Van

May%202014%20033%20blog

On May 6, 2014, residents and staff gathered at Hale Makua Wailuku for the blessing of their new resident transportation van, which replaces an aging van purchased in 2002. The new vehicle enables staff to safely and efficiently transport our residents to do their banking, go shopping, or on outings like their recent trip to the Maui Ocean Center.

Because most of our Hale Makua Long Term Care residents use assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, to get around, a vehicle that is capable of safely transporting residents in their wheelchairs is critical to getting groups of residents out and about to enjoy activities and take care of personal matters outside of the home.

The purchase of this new vehicle was made possible by a grant from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.
